ONE is a single-shot fluid art video created using my color-dropping system, EMITTER. I filmed dozens of these dropping sequences to fine-tune every possible adjustment, from the tube diameter and pump speed to the aesthetic aspects of motion and fluidity. If I had to choose just one work to represent what I do, it would be this one, because it is unedited. Although editing is an essential part of my fluid art films, I often lose some of the natural, organic qualities of the medium by trimming it down for a perfect montage. This single, uninterrupted clip of a machine dropping colors onto a canvas captures exactly what I have been striving for over more than a decade. ONE embodies all the qualities of fluid art that I envision for myself, making it a significant milestone in my work. However, this might not resonate the same way with all viewers. I'm eager to hear if you enjoy this video as much as my others or if you find it perhaps too slow, too long, or too uniform.
